Justin Bieber appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and had some very important news for us…drum roll please…Justin. Bieber. Played. 15 seconds. Of his new song, “Boyfriend.” Ahhh misleading for sure!
Anyways, the Biebs or (Justin Beaver, as adults over 50 call him) teased the Ellen audience with 15 seconds of his new song, “Boyfriend.”
Oh also, Bieber is a music manager now. He just “signed” or “took under his wing” this Canadian artist named Carly Rae Jepsen. If you are a person who spends a lot of time on the internet, you’ll know Carly Rae as the “Call Me Maybe” songstress, whom Justin, Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale parodied in a silly youtube video a few weeks back.
But back to the “Boyfriend” song, between the 10-second intro he released on his official youtube page, and the 15 seconds he debuted on Ellen, here’s my expert opinion. It’s got an old-school R&B meets Justin Timberlake vibe.
I’m so glad it went the opposite direction of Chris Brown and this obnoxious synth-house-R&B bull sh-t that’s happening in pop music right now. Also, in the last few seconds of the clip you can hear Bieber rapping in a very low voice, he says something like “Girl, tell me what you want. Girl, tell me what you like,” and omigod I’m flustered! That is PG-13 for sure!
If you think that this is ridiculous buildup for a song that he’s going to release in a few days, it is. The full song will release on Monday, and you can buy it on iTunes or check back to Stereotude where we will dissect it and decide if we want to spend $.99 on it, or just listen to it on youtube a couple times and then go back to playing “Baby” on repeat.
