Brace yourself, world… Another track has dropped from Justin Bieber’s new album.
Just days after the Biebs was accused of physically assaulting a paparazzo, the adolescent marvel has unleashed a new song from his upcoming album Believe. And the musical styling’s that unfold in “Die In Your Arms” comes a bit as a shock.
There’s no whispering… no effects… I’m not even sure if you can dance to it. “Die In My Arms” doesn’t just take the album in a new direction from “Boyfriend,” it travels back to a different time period… like the 1970’s when the bands like Derek and the Dominos and ABBA were still cool.
“If I could just die in your arms / I wouldn’t mind / ‘cause every time you touch me I just die in your arms,” he sings.
A full gospel chorus of “Oh-yeah” s and “Uhuh” s back Bieber. But aside from that it’s pretty straight forward: Bieber, a beat, and a piano. And there’s no denying that resulting sound is reminiscent of Jackson 5’s hits like “ABC” and “I Want You Back.”
So which is it, Justin? Are you a sexy adult or are you an adorable kid? With such a wide fan base, maybe this is the teen star attempting to appeal to the masses.
This isn’t the first time JB has been compared to Michael Jackson. Bieber has previously spoken openly about the pop legend’s influence on his moves, songs, and dress code.
“He was an inspiration to not only me, but to my whole family and everyone around me … He’s an icon,” Justin told Access Hollywood. “I’m always trying to be the best and that’s what he always did.”
“Die In Your Arms,” “Boyfriend,” and whatever other surprises Biebs has in store for us will be available on his third studio album Believe, which hits stores June 19.
