Linkin Park Threatens Justin Bieber's Number One Album Spot

Justin Bieber might be surprised to find a few other albums in front of his next week.

After soaring first week sales of his new release Believe, The Biebs is going to have a tough time holding down the top spot for week two on the Billboard Hot 200. Linkin Park’s Living Things is leading the race to the number one.

The album is the rap-rock group’s fifth studio LP. It was released on Monday and has been able to grab the traction necessary to pull past Bieber. If they maintain the pace through the weekend, the spot is theirs.

What Linkin Park may not realize is that these numbers could be skewed, as a lot of Justin’s fans have to wait to buy the album until the weekend when they can get a ride to the mall from their parents.

Also beating out Believe so far this week are Maroon 5’s new release Overexposed and Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaboration Watch the Throne.

Bieber’s up against six other top contenders arriving this week, including Flo Rida’s Wild Ones, and a new solo album from Wild Ones frontman Ginger called 100 Percent.

According to Billboard, Living Things is on track to sell 220,000 copies. Believe earned 374,000 in sales on its initial release, the best debut week so far this year.

If Linkin Park scores the top spot, it will be their sixth US number one album. However, like Bieber - who has charted albums at number one four times - the group has never earned a number one single on charts. Keep tuning in right here to see who wins the race!
