Performances Recap: 2012 Teen Choice Awards

Hormones, surfboards, and high-energy performances…

The 2012 Teen Choice Awards brought with it a slew of quality live acts. As expected, there wasn’t a whole lot of disappointment to go around.

Here’s a recap on how it all went down…

Let’s start with the man of just about every hour, Justin Bieber. The teen pop prom king put on a futuristic performance of his megahit “Boyfriend.”

Biebs took the stage with a zappingly electric performance… Seriously there was a laser grid in the background. He was fitted with shiny pants and a metallic left arm.

The song broke down and moved into an expertly choreographed take on “As Long As You Love Me,” which featured a hydraulic lift and a sea of backup dancers in true Usher form.

Also taking the stage on Sunday night was the recently reunited No Doubt. Fans were treated to the live debut their new single “Settle Down” just days after the track was officially released.

No Doubt’s last appearance at the Teen Choice Awards was over ten years ago.

And then, of course, was the song of the year, “Call Me Maybe.” Just like her 2012 Billboard showing, Carly Rae Jepsen was on point, getting the crowd to sing along.

In the background, all the viral videos – including those by fellow celebs – played out on a large screen.

Flo Rida and Sira Furler put on a finessed showing as well with their presentation of “Wild One.” The rapper also gave fans a sampling of his single “Whistle” to open their set up.

It was quite a night. Audiences surely went home with ringing in their ears and smiles on their faces.
