Justin Timberlake is continuing his campaign back into musical relevance.
Today his new video “Suit & Tie” has arrived, decked out in its evening best. Suited up, JT and collaborator Jay-Z deliver five minutes of solid swag.
Freeze frames selected at random throughout could serve as a Kettle One ad, if not a scene straight out of the day in the life of Jay Gatsby himself. Well, minus all the iPads floating around.
Fans confused by “Suit& Tie” upon its release in January, might have a better picture now.
The video was directed by David Fincher—of Fight Club, The Social Network and Panic Room fame—with the percussion of a pro. Which, as his resume will demonstrate, he is…
In the category of music videos, Fincher has directed such hits as Billy Idol’s “Cradle of Love,” Aerosmith’s “Janie’s Got a Gun,” and Michael Jackson’s “Who Is It”—not to mention a list of Madonna’s made-for-screen tunes.
JT announced the release, tweeting to followers: “Here it is... All pressed up in black and white. Enjoy!”
