You don't turn down Jay Z. Unless, of course, you're Justin Timberlake, who, lately, seems to be on top of the world. I'm not sure how the kid from *NSYNC rose to such great heights of fame that he can turn down Jay Z, Jessica Biel, and Cameron Diaz, but good for him. It's better than Chris Kirkpatrick did.
After Jay Z turned down a chance to sing on Timberlake's 2006 album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, Timberlake believes they missed their one and only opportunity.
Back then, Justin reached out to Jay Z for a duet, but Jay Z was unable to do it, due to scheduling conflicts. He did, however, offer to help Timberlake on his next project. But Justin told Vanity Fair:
"Jay Z has put out 11 albums, and I was talking about doing a collaboration with him, and he said, 'I can't do it right now, but I'll get you on the next album.' I was like, 'No, man, I don't work like that. This sounded good to me for you and me to do together, and if it doesn't work, then I totally get it, but I won't be putting an album out next year; these aren't a dime a dozen to me."
Sounds like someone got butt hurt. Which is understandable, I guess, because Timberlake doesn't seem to have any real plans to return to music. He's recently revealed that he has no songs written and doesn't have any plans to return to the studio.
Jay-Z may have missed his one and only chance. I'm sure somewhere between his Roc-A-Fella fortune and Beyonce's cleavage, he'll find a way to cope.
