Justin Timberlake, the actor, is giving Justin Timberlake, the musician, back the spotlight. The 31-year-old Memphis native has officially made his return to the realm of the recording industry.
Earlier this month, after 10 long years of making fans wait, JT announced his return to the music world. In the weeks that followed we were introduced to his new single, “Suit & Tie” featuring Jay-Z, the lead track off his upcoming album, "The 20/20 Experience."
Today, we get a full-length peek at an “original lyric video” for the new single. While it wasn’t the actual music video fans were hoping for, the video does offer considerable swagger as Justin is wearing his dress-up clothes.
In a black-and-white sequence JT suits up in his finest, he drives a classic convertible, a lady helps out with the bowtie, he pours over music sheets, cigarette smoke billows here and there… Meanwhile, lyrics and hand drawn graphics dance in and out of frame.
The video debuted at 6 a.m. on January 6th. "20/20" is due out in full on March 19th.
Seeming to articulate that there is more of this to come, Justin previously tweeted:
“What does the next decade mean for me? … I don’t want to put anything out that I feel is something I don’t love. You just don’t get that every day. You have to wait for it. … I’m ready.”
In other news, the Associated Press is reporting that Timberlake will perform at this year's “DIRECTV Super Saturday Night,” leading into Super Bowl Sunday, on February 2nd.
Also on tap that night is Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson of The Roots. The event will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.
