Justin Timberlake Throws Surprise Concert in NYC

Justin Timberlake surprised fans last night with an impromptu concert in New York City. Justin Timberlake sings? But he's that guy from SNL...oh wait...did you forget for a minute that JT was a singer first? Yeah me too.

Hours before the 11pm performance on Wednesday night, Justin Timberlake sent out this tweet, "NYC!!! Wanna check out some live music tonight?? Meet me and @freesol at 45th & 9th at 11pm. #bbqnyc #youdontwanttomissthis"

The concert was totally free and took place at Southern Hospitality barbecue joint in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Fun Fact: Justin is one of the owners and creators of Southern Hospitality. Again, just a reminder; Justin started his career as a singer and not as a restaurateur, Andy Samberg's sidekick or Mila Kunis' f-ck buddy.

Fans had already filled the restaurant venue to capacity by 9pm for an 11pm show. Fans were lining to streets all night, hoping to get in.

Justin wasn't performing alone, he shared the stage with rock/hip hop band FreeSol. FreeSol is signed to Justin's label, Tennman Records, so I'm sure performing with JT was great publicity for this new band.

Justin performed some new songs including a rap ballad (whatever that is? Do you rap slower?) called "Don't Give It Away" and another new song with FreeSol called "Fast Car." He also treated the audience to an acapella version of his own hit, "What Goes Around...Comes Around." He then retreated to playing the keyboard while FreeSol played new music from their album.

Though the audience wasn't all filled with fan girls tryna grope the popstar. Celebs like Kim and Kourtney Kardashian and Kim's hubby Kris Humphries were there as well as Emma Roberts and Justin's "In Time" co-star Amanda Seyfried.

However, JT and FreeSol are set to do another pop-up show tonight! He's performing at NY's Irving Plaza and FreeSol's album is also out today.

When you have Justin Timberlake performing with you for free to promote your album, that's a big deal.

He gave a heads up about this performance when he tweeted about this show two weeks ago, "Free show from @freesol on 9/1 at Irving Plaza in NYC. Must be 21+. Only 500 get in so come early...see you there. #national901day"

After last night's performance he asked the audience about the Irving Plaza show, "Are y'all coming?"
