Kanye West rules. He makes fantastic music. I've been a fan since his College Dropout days. I still remember in high school when Kanye dropped Graduation. My friends and I knew the words to every single track on the album and rocked Kanye shutter shades like it was nobody's business.
Over the years, Kanye has definitely gotten more eccentric. I guess that's what stardom does to you? Like the band of paparazzi that follow him and his loved ones around like a fly on an In-N-Out Burger.
Last year, Kanye got in a pretty bad scuffle with a paparazzo at LAX. Kanye got into it with the photographer, Daniel Ramos. He lunged at Ramos, who recorded their entire fight on camera.
Maybe 'Ye was having a really bad day? Who knows...but now Kanye has to pay for this incident with 250 hours of community service, 24 anger management sessions, and restitution fees to the photographer.
TMZ has leaked the court deposition papers for this case and Kanye, as always, had some interesting things to say. He compared celebrities fighting against paparazzi to black people in the 1960s fighting for civil rights.
I've taken a look at the deposition, as well as Kanye's rants throughout the years, to outline all the things and people that Kanye claims he is better than:
1. Britney Spears
"I'm the smartest celebrity you've ever f**king dealt with. I'm not Britney Spears."
2. Michael Jackson
“I would not be Kanye West if it wasn’t for Michael Jackson. I was able to ascend to massive heights. And I’ve got to a point that Michael Jackson did not break down."
3. Rosa Parks & Martin Luther King Jr.
"I'm much more important than Rosa Parks. What was she fighting for? The best seat on the bus? I'm fighting for something bigger than that. I'm trying to bring opportunity to all black people by way of example through the power of my excellence, you know?"
4. Everybody on the radio
"I ain't going after nobody on the radio. I'm goin' after Shakespeare. Walt Disney. Mozart. Henry Ford. Howard Hughes. David Stern. Elon Musk."
He is Kanye West. He is a god.
