BET Hip-Hop Awards 2012 Nominees: Kanye West is the Leader
Watch the BET Hip-Hop Awards throne.

Kanye West dominates the list of nominees announced today with 17 nods. Following close behind is 2 Chainz with 13 nominations and Drake with 11 nominations.

The rapper hasn’t released an album of solo material since his fifth release My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in 2010, yet he still has enough reach in the game to take home more than a handful of statuettes at the annual ceremony.

Here’s a briefer selection of what Kanye is the front-runner for:

– Hustler of the Year
– CD of the Year
– Best Club Banger
– Impact Track
– Lyricist of the Year
– Best Hip-Hop Video
– Perfect Combo Award
Undoubtedly, that staggering number is also thanks to his collaborations with Jay-Z on their epic “Watch the Throne.” The radio hit “N***** in Paris” is up for “Track of the Year” and “Best Club Banger.” It also helped in landing Kanye in the category for “Best Live Performer” twice—nominated as both a solo act and also with Jay-Z.

The coveted Hustler of the Year has Ye up against 2 Chainz, Jigga, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross.

The talent performing at this year’s awards show, taping on September 29 in Atlanta, has not yet been released, though it’s been reported that there will be a tribute to late hip-hop manager Chris Lighty.

“106 & Park” has reminded us that the telecast will take place on October 9 and hosted for the third time by comedian Mike Epps.
