Looks like someone's got a case of the Mondays. Not us. We're stoked. There's a whole weekend's worth of weird music news to report on. This is FYI:
Axed Factor - Everyone's second favorite British mean guy Simon Cowell is putting the hatchet to the US version of "The X Factor" and is returning to the UK to revive the original edition. "The X Factor" has been struggling ratings-wise despite splashing the cash on bringing in Britney Spears as a judge for the second season. Cowell blamed the show's lacking ratings on extended run-times and will be missed, sort of, maybe. (Via Rolling Stone)
DMX vs. Zimmerman Cancelled - The much-anticipated boxing bout between George Zimmerman and rapper DMX has been cancelled, with promoter Damon Feldman and X both racing to claim that it was them who had the change-of-heart. Again, the only person amused by any of this is that asshole George Zimmerman. (Via Rolling Stone)
Buy Kanye's Shoes: The shoe design that ended the 'Ye/Nike relationship has been released in short order by the footwear giant. They were sold out in 15 minutes, but according to Consequence of Sound, a pair is currently listed for $16,000,000 on eBay. Cool. See you at TJ Maxx. (Via Consequence of Sound)
Best Thing Ever: If you haven't seen this yet, there's something wrong with you. This is an early frontrunner for meme of the year. Here is the Russian Police choir KILLING (quietly, at night, in true KGB fashion) a version of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" at the Sochi Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
