The video begins with a disclaimer that reads, “WARNING: This video has been identified by epilepsy action to potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.”
Warnings are for babies, I can handle this.
Okay the video starts out with footage from the Watch The Throne Concert, and oh god, I see what they mean about the epilepsy thing. Ahhh eyes hurt, so bad, can’t, must go on!
So this concert footage is from their Staples Center show in Los Angeles in December, and unlike most “concert footage” music videos, this ‘aint some grainy black-and-white stuff, this is high-def crystal clear HD footage that looks like it was processed in a kaleidoscope.
The video features the two members of The Throne doing their thing, plus images of girls in the audience rocking out to their song, because let’s face it, most rap fans are girls in skinny jeans who scream all the lyrics at the top of their lungs, but specifically, “What she order? Fish Filet!” and also that line about Mary-Kate and Ashley. Girls go nuts for those lines, it’s fact.
Oh also, there’s a bizarre cameo by Will Ferrell midway through the video thanks to his performance in Blades of Glory.
Also, this version of the song seems to be a unique mix of live performance vocals with the album vocals. It’s very cool.
Let me just say that I’m impressed by this very psychedelic video. Also, I’m not even upset that a song called “Ni—as in Paris” has absolutely not footage of Paris at all!
