Kanye West Nominated for 9 BET Hip Hop Awards

Kanye West may have a chance to redeem himself after his embarrassing VMA moment. The rapper has just received nine BET Hip-Hop awards nominations. Kanye’s latest album 808 & Heartbreak has sold over a million copies.

Kanye’s nominees include Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, CD of the Year, and MVP of the year, as well as People’s Champ. The People’s Champ category is determined by the viewer’s choice, so it’ll be interesting to see if he wins, based on his latest incident with Taylor Swift.

Ice Cube will be honored as this year’s “I Am Hip-Hop” Icon Award recipient, and the late DJ AM garners a nod for for DJ of the Year. Two new categories have also been added: “Made-You-Look Award (Best Hip Hop Style)” and “Best Hip-Hop Blog Site.”

The show will be hosted by comedian Mike Epps, and will air October 27th. Note to producers: keep Kanye away from the mic! Unless BET wants the same ratings MTV got.
