The LA premiere of rave documentary “Electric Daisy Carnival Experience” turned into a near-riot says the LA Times.
Everyone goes through a rave phase some time in their lives, but this is just ridiculous.
Electro-musician Kaskade tweeted earlier in the day “ME+BIG SPEAKERS+MUSIC=BLOCK PARTY!!!” so hundreds of electro fans flooded to Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd for this promised block party.
These ravers started appearing at 6pm and by 6:30 they had taken up all of Hollywood boulevard. One cop car attempted to break up the crowd but fans just smothered the cop car.
As hundreds of people began to descend onto the street, they were pelting police with beer bottles and rocks, and as police barricades attempted to push fans off the street some members of the crowd smashed the windshield of a cop car. This is a scene straight out of those “end-of-the-world” type movies. However, unlike riots in the movies, nobody was breaking into Best Buy and looting flat screen TVs.
Thanks to Kaskade's riot-inducing tweet, he changed his mind and said, “EVERYONE CHILL NOW!!! The block party has officially been shut down!” and then “EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO HOME NOW!”
Real cool Kaskade, you’ve officially been demoted from the “cool guy with the boombox” to “guy who yells ‘the cops are here.’”
The CEO of Insomnia Inc who produced the film premiere said, “I want to make clear that while this film showcased an Insomniac event, Insomniac had nothing to do with the supposed ‘block party,’ which was not a part of the premiere.”
Hey man, you can’t stop rave fans. One love, bro. And free light shows or whatever.
This just proves that, if you tweet it, they will come.
