Skylar Grey was the go-to collaborator for all things hip-hop and pop. She’s appeared on singles for Eminem, P. Diddy, and T.I. and now the songstress is moving into the electro dance music scene with her new track with dance music king, Kaskade.
Their song “Room For Happiness” is, according to Skylar, one of her favorite songs she’s ever written. Skylar told Stereotude at the T-Mobile Presents Google Music at Tao in conjunction with Marquee Las Vegas with special guest DJ Kaskade, “Kaskade was one of my favorite collaborations because I feel like it was effortless and we have a lot in common musically and where our intuition leads us, so it was just a really easy collaboration and fun and he’s such a cool guy to hang out with and work with.”
With the success of songs like “We Found Happiness” by Rihanna and Calvin Harris and DJ’s like David Guetta entered pop music, it’s obvious that electro, house and dance music is infiltrating the pop music scene.
For Skylar the music transition has been easy, “There’s a lot of different genres in music, but for some reason it doesn’t effect me going from hip-hop to dance music…it’s just so seamless.”
Skylar is excited for her duet with Kaskade, because dance music is becoming increasingly more popular.
“It’s actually great timing for Kaskade, who has been around for a long time in the music world, but the pop world is more into dance music, so it’s great timing. I’m excited for his career and how his album is doing.”
