Katy Perry: \"Part Of Me\" Is NOT About Russell Brand
Riggghhhhttt. So Katy Perry just released a break-up song called “Part Of Me” with lyrics like “You can keep the diamond ring/It don’t mean nothing anyway,” and expects us to believe the song ISN’T about Russell Brand.

Ok, Katy you probably wrote it for your other husband who also gave you a diamond ring. Right. Right. And while we’re dropping (not) truth bombs… your hair is pretty.

Katy insists she wrote the song about someone other than Brand, “I wrote it two years ago, which is funny because everybody is like ‘God, it sounds so current.’”

And by “so current,” she means, “painfully recreating her real-life divorce from Russell Brand.”

Katy adds, “Some people that I work with were like, ‘You should just say you wrote it a couple of weeks ago.’ I’m like, ‘I’m not a d-ck, I’m going to tell them the truth.’ I wrote it two years ago when I was writing and recording Teenage Dream, [but] it didn’t feel right on the record.”

True. Teenage Dream was all about partying, high school love, and other things that happen when you dream as a teenager, so a bitter break-up song might have been a little too mature for the album?

Let’s figure out the timeline here. Katy wrote the song in 2010, Teenage Dream was released in August 2010, Katy and Perry got married in November 2010. Oh sh-t! It makes sense, the song “Part Of Me” is about her ex-boyfriend Travis McCoy! Nailed it!

Anyways, Katy says that it’s strange that the song was released now, in the aftermath of her divorce.

“Sometimes I’m like, ‘Am I living in The Truman Show?’…What’s going on?’” she wonders, “It just feels like sometimes I’m caught in this movie where my life is paralleling my music!”
