Katy Perry Planning On Taking Hiatus From Music
The “E.T.” singer is taking a pit stop.

On the cusp of the release of 3-D film Katy Perry: Part of Me and one week after her Hollywood Reporter cover issue, Katy Perry is hitting the pause button on the ballad that is her skyrocketing career. The reported reasoning behind the sudden move is to heal from her divorce from comedian Russell Brand.

According to UK’s Daily Mirror, Katy will take an extended break at the end of next month.

“I need to let my heart heal,” she told the source.

In her tell-all film, Perry is shown unable to move, devastated from the much-publicized breakup.

“For a modern woman, it is important to be supported and that there is equality in every aspect,” she continued.

Perry and Brand’s brief marriage lasted only 14 months. Since then, she’s been bouncing around the dating scene, including a recent fling with Robert Ackroyd of Florence and the Machine. The couple was spotted cuddling at the Coachella music festival.

News of the hiatus comes after Perry previously told the Hollywood Reporter that she was planning on her launching her very own label. Though she admitted that the process was still in its infancy, the plan was very much in the forward motion.

"I'm preparing for it now," she said. “When this record label does come to fruition, I'm going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success.”
