Ke$ha Strips It Down For "Die Young"

I can barely recognize Ke$ha when she’s not covered in a kindergarten classroom’s art project (Elmer’s glue and cans of glitter) and filmed in black and white.

The 25-year-old “Tik Tok” singer gave an a capella performance in a Tokyo subway for unsuspecting commuters last month in a thirty second teaser trailer for her forthcoming single “Die Young.”

Ke$ha has been full of tantalizing tweets lately. This week she Instagrammed a handwritten capital ‘R’ causing followers to speculate she’s recording a duet with Rihanna. She also revealed the song’s artwork laid out with a double-take mirror effect of Ke$ha covered in flower leis. Pretty sure this isn’t exactly what P. Diddy feels like waking up in the morning…

Even without the bass, synthesizers, and music video antics, Ke$ha belts it out in the video and still sounds polished and good. Sometimes I forget she has a semblance of a solid voice buried under all that studio production. Maybe they’ll be more of that rock vocalist side of the pop star reflected in her upcoming record where she collaborated with the Flaming Lips and Iggy Pop.

That “live fast, die young” rock ‘n’ roll vibe has already made its way into the Dr. Luke-produced track’s catchy lyrics:

I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums
Oh, what a shame that you came here with someone
While you’re here in my arms
Let’s make the most of the night
‘Cause we’re gonna die young
We’re gonna die young
We’re gonna die young

From what we’ve heard so far, have a pretty good feeling this one will have a decent life as a Billboard #1.
