Kelly Clarkson to Release First Greatest Hits Album with New Single

You don’t have to hold your breath waiting for a Kelly Clarkson greatest hits album any longer.

The American Idol season one winner has been putting together a greatest hits collection on the DL and it’s titled Greatest Hits – Chapter 1 due for release on November 19. An official track list has yet to be released, though there are many albums to choose from including Thankful (2003), Breakaway (2004), My Decemeber (2007), All I Ever Wanted (2009), and Stronger (2011). Out of all the radio hits those five albums produced, it’s probably safe to say “Stronger” will make the cut considering it’s the top-selling single from any “American Idol” contestant.

Kelly took to the blog of her official website to make the announcement, writing:

“It’s been a decade now since I won American Idol. Sometimes it feels longer because although it has been exciting that was a lot of pressure to have as a 19 year old girl. To own a company, lead an organization as a business woman, and be able to create music I’m proud of has been tough, but inspiring, for me.”

Kelly also mentioned that of the three new songs included on the compilation, one will be a single called “Catch My Breath”—something we imagine Kelly is probably wanting to do in the midst of her whirlwind tour and successful year.

“To celebrate the strength and longevity that my fans, friends, and family have supported me with I wrote this song “Catch my Breath” with one of my best friends that has seen me through everything,” she wrote. “This song represents who I’ve been, what I’ve felt, and where I’m headed as not only an artist but as a 30 year old that is now smart enough to know that it’s time to stop, catch my breath, and be proud of not only what has been accomplished but of all the people that have helped me become the woman I am today.”

The single is prepped to hit radio airwaves next week, according to Kelly. “Here’s to another decade of passion and fun! I hope you like the song…its coming next week!”

This greatest hits album is exciting, though my guess is fans already can’t wait for Chapter 2.
