Adele has been sitting atop every kind of list lately (Billboard Top 200, Rolling Stone, Associated Press, UK Billboard, Karl Lagerfeld’s “do not diss” list etc) but now she has been ousted from the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has been replaced by Kelly Clarkson!
Gasp! The horror! Has Kelly Clarkson played at the Royal Albert Hall? Has Kelly Clarkson even been in love? Has Kelly Clarkson ever been criticized for her weight but bounced back like it’s nothing? Ok, yes, to all three, but whatever…Adele is still my favorite, that being said, Adele’s two consecutive weeks in the #1 spot on the Hot 100 chart for “Set Fire To The Rain” has been dethroned by Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).”
Elsewhere on the Billboard charts is Madonna, whose lead single off MDMA “Give Me All Your Luvin” debuted on the Hot 100 at #13. Between the song going online on Friday and Sunday night when the charts close, Madonna had sold 115,000 digital downloads.
The song will probably only get more popular, it hasn’t even been released for a full week. Madonna’s last Top 20 hit was “4 minutes” with Justin Timberlake that peaked at the #3 spot in 2008.
It’s about time Madonna makes her way back onto the charts, who knows, maybe she will dethrone Adele and Clarkson? It could happen, it IS Madonna, she does boasts 56 singles on the Hot 100 chart in her career.
“Give Me All Your Luvin” is also perched at the #6 spot on itunes, which is impressive as she’s only being beat out by artists like Nicki Minaj and of course, Kelly Clarkson and Adele.
