Vh1, Kelly Clarkson and DoSomething.org want YOU to save music education in schools by inviting young people to compete in the third annual “Battle for the Bands” competition.
Music programs in schools are being threatened during these challenging economic times so DoSomething.org and VH1 Save The Music Foundation are asking teens to submit music videos or write a parody music video of a popular or classic song about the importance of music education in schools.
DoSomething.org will compile a mash-up of the best videos and present them to representatives in Washington DC, so this is your chance to let Capitol Hill know why you want to save music education in schools.
Kelly Clarkson appears in the PSA for the “Battle For the Bands” campaign and says, “Music has obviously had a huge impact on my life. Every kid should have the opportunity to pick up an instrument in their school, no matter where they live. Music education should be as commonplace as math and science classes.”
Who doesn’t want to support that?
Or as DoSomething.org campaign manager says, “it’s safe to say that a world without music would be a pretty bland and miserable existence.”
The Grand Prize video will receive up to $5,000 in grant funding for their school music program, a Vh1 produced Pop Up video, concert tickets, an acoustic guitar and up to $10,000 in scholarships.
