The bassist is off the market!
Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill announced today that he and his now fiancé Martha Patterson had gotten engaged last month, but the indie rocker seems more interested in what this means for his love life.
“It's true! I'm engaged! CANNOT wait to finally lose my virginity,” Followill tweeted today.
We’ll leave that one alone…
According to JustJared.com, Followill popped the question with a ring in hand. Though it is far from a Brangelina-sized mammoth, the ring was custom-designed by the rocker and features a 4-carat cushion-cut diamond, surrounded by more diamonds on the band.
“Yes, it’s true!” the rep confirmed to JustJared.com. “Jared proposed to Martha on April 11 at his home in Nashville and we’re all excited for the newly engaged couple.”
This is the first good news in a long time for the Kings of Leon. The band – all brothers – canceled a summer tour in 2011 after an incident where lead singer Caleb Followill left the stage in the middle of a set in Dallas.
"I'm gonna go backstage and I'm gonna vomit,” Caleb announced to disappointed fans. “I'm gonna drink a beer and I'm gonna come back out and play three more songs."
Caleb did not return.
The band has not made an appearance yet this year and their last recorded studio release was in 2010 with the album Come Around Sundown.
