Chris Martin: Lady Gaga is Better Than Me

Chris Martin: Lady Gaga is Better Than Me

Chris Martin doesn't give himself enough credit. The frontman of Coldplay has been a force to reckon with since the bands breakthrough in 2000, but Martin admits he's nothing without the whole band and that Lady Gaga is way better than him at writing choruses.

The two pop stars met each other when they both performed at the Children in Need Rocks Manchester charity show last month, and Martin admits he was very impressed with Gaga.

"She's very sweet. I think what undercuts it all, though, is that she's talented and she writes everything," says Martin.

He says, despite all her wacky outfits, she's a good songwriter. So can Gaga finally dress like a normal person? I'm sure Martin hopes so.

"I just admire all of the hats and the dresses and the madness and everything because I know that underneath it all she can beat me at writing choruses," confesses the Coldplay frontman.

Can she really beat him at writing choruses? Let's compare Lady Gaga's "Marry The Night" and Coldplay's "Paradise," shall we?

Lady Gaga's Marry The Night Chorus: "M-m-m-Marry/ m-m-m-marry/ m-m-m-marry/ m-m-m-marry the night"

Coldplay's Paradise Chorus: "I dream of para-para-paradise/Para-para-paradise/Para-para-paradise."

Uhhh...I call it a tie.

Martin says Gaga is also better than him because she's a solo artist. Martin thinks he could never make it as a singer if he didn't have the rest of the band, comprised of Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion.

"Solo, I'd just be terrible," says Martin, "I don't think I could even get a gig in Butlins - and I've been to Butlins. I think me and my keyboard would be [on the high street] most days, getting shouted at."

I highly doubt that. I mean, Gwyneth Paltrow could totally support her husband. There's no need for curbside piano playing.

The band also announced their North American Tour dates. After teasing us with a 5-show tour in the UK (Who does that? 5 shows? That's it?) the band expanded into a full North American tour with stops in both the US and Canada.

The 21-date tour kicks off in ALberta Canadaon April 17 and wraps up in August in Minnesota.
