Last week Katy made headlines for calling Gaga’s “Alejandro” music video “blasphemy,” but she's since taken the time to explain her choice of words.
Katy told EW, "I'm a massive fan.”
She added that the tweet, which stated, "Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke," was not even directed at Gaga and instead was "more of a non-specific, general thing."
She continued, "But everybody made it out to be a cat fight. I think people love catfights. It's a turn-on for people."
Katy went on to explain that anyone who knows her understands that she loves Gaga. "It's just kind of deeply rooted inside of me, and hard to get away from. But everybody knows I am a massive Lady Gaga fan. If you look through my tweets, there will be about 10 of them that say that I am obsessed with her," she said.
But Katy did take an opportunity to dis the one and only Material Girl! She said, "Lately, I've just been seeing some things that are kind of…not something I would do, I guess. Like, you know when Madonna was on the cross? And, like, sometimes my boyfriend will say things that are ehhh… From where I come from, it's hard for me to say that…"
"[People say] I'm a very hypocritical person, 'How do you say that and [sing] 'I Kissed a Girl'? Spirituality and sexuality are two separate things. When you decide to put it into the same subject, it gets interesting for some people.
"Everyone knows…I've said 100 times on my Twitter: I'm one of the biggest Lady Gaga and Madonna and Russell Brand fans. Some people have different viewpoints."
We still think she was talking about Gaga with the “blasphemy” comment! It happened on the exact day, right after “Alejandro” aired! But we guess we’ll have to take Katy’s word for it that deep down she is a Gaga fan.
