While Amy never actually helped GaGa out in a concrete sense of the word, she did inspire her to be proud of her odd sense of style.
GaGa says because Amy paved the way with her unconventional look, she was able to get away with dressing she way she wants, which is definitely not mainstream.
She tells AOL, "I will always have a very deep love for Amy Winehouse. Because of Amy, very strange girls like me go to prom with very good-looking guys. She's a different kind of woman I don't believe that what I do is very digestible, and somehow Amy was the flu for pop music. And everybody got a little bit of the flu and got over it, and fell in love with Amy Winehouse. And now, when more flu comes along, it's not so unbearable."
It’s true if you think about it! We don’t even blink an eye when we see GaGa stepping out in public with no pants, or performing while wearing a bubble outfit. But a few years ago when Amy first stepped on to the scene, people couldn’t get over her beehive!
The two girls are very talented each in the own way, so it’s nice to hear GaGa give credit to the first oddball in modern pop.
