Some artists put out "short films" and they’re nothing more than a music videos with fancy titles. Lana Del Rey is not one of these people.
The New York songstress’ recently released project Tropico plays out for an impressive 27 minutes and features three of the singles off her EP Paradise: "Body Electric,” "Gods and Monsters" and "Bel Air." It’s an eerie feat, with Biblical references, John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe appearances, and a strip club scene that will make your skin crawl with filthy, filthy glee.
Tropico was directed by Anthony Mandler. It premiered last night in Los Angeles. Set some time aside and watch the film below. It might very well be the most interesting 27:08 minutes of your entire day.
