Colombian music artist Juanes is a huge star in the Latin music community. He’s won 17 Latin Grammy Awards and has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
His style is best categorized as pop rock, even though he got his start as a member of heavy metal band Ekhymosis. Now the star is considering taking his music to an even broader audience by possibly putting out an English-language album.
“Well I don't know, to be honest I don't have any plans to record the whole album in English,” Juanes tells Stereotude at the LA En Vivo Block Party held at L.A. Live, “but I will do something in English, maybe a couple of songs.”
However, he jokes that recording an album, or even a whole song will be quite a task since his first language is Spanish.
“Will let me know what you think about my pronunciation?” he jokes with us.
Juanes lists Alicia Keys and John Mayer as some of his dream collaborations.
“Oh yeah, I’m a very big fan of those guys so I hope someday I can do something with them.”
Juanes is celebrating having his 8th number #1 single with song “Yerbatero,” but the artist says he’s thankful every time he lands a chart-topping hit.
“It’s a beautiful gift,” says Juanes, “I’m just very happy you have no idea how emotional I feel about it.”
