Finally. Lea Michele isn’t reserving her biggest notes just for Rachel Berry.
The Glee actress/singer has announced her debut studio album is officially under way. She enthusiastically took to her Twitter to make the announcement:
Just had a very exciting music meeting and am proud to announce that im officially on the road to making my first album! I'm so excited!

Calling it a “debut” is something of a stretch considering we already know she can belt it with the rest of them. Over the series’ past four seasons, Michele has covered huge divalicious numbers from artists like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and her character’s personal hero Barbra Streisand.
This latest career move kind of mirrors that of her TV character’s arc. On the current season, Rachel has graduated high school and moved to New York City to pursue her dreams on Broadway. Tonight’s episode is centered around the songbook of Britney Spears with Lea putting her own sultry stamp on the 2000 hit “Oops!...I Did It Again.”
Lea also has roots in musical theater, so again, not another stretch of the imagination—all of these skills we’re sure of which she’ll channel into the recording studio.
In related news, Lea’s co-star Amber Riley, who plays Mercedes on the TV high school music dramedy, is also prepping to release her own solo debut album. It doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s R&B, which is Amber’s forte on Glee.
