Leighton Meester Signs Record Deal With Universal

Gossip Girl Leighton Meester is proving she can do more than play the pretty little rich girl. She’s just signed a contract with Universal Republic Records.

Leighton is already working on her debut album, which will reportedly feature an “electro pop edge.” It’s scheduled to be released as early as this fall!

We have pretty high expectations for Leighton. She’s working with American Idol’s Kara DioGuardi and JR Rotem, who has worked with Britney, on production of the album. Maybe we’ll be hearing one of the songs on next season of Gossip Girl!
