Lil Wayne got hurt in a skateboard accident last night. For the record, Wayne is neither Tony Hawk nor a 14 year-old boy, but apparently Wayne loves skating. Sadly, he was rushed to a hospital last night and received nine stitches above his eye from a skating accident.
Wayne is currently on his "I Am Still Music" tour and after his stop in Maryland Heights, Missouri he took a break to skate at a local skate park. He was treated at a local hospital near the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater where he performed earlier that night. He took to twitter to spread the news to fans, "The Lou was good but I busted my fuggin head at the sk8park! 9stiches! Gnarly gash over my left eye! Luv the people," he wrote. At least he seems optimistic, also that "8" in "Sk8" was a real cute touch.
Speaking of Wayne news, Weezy has announced that he will release his new album "Tha Carter IV" at all digital retailers on August 28 at midnight following the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
Wayne, rarely humble, speaks on his great idea to release the album after the VMA's, "I am extremely excited to be the first artist to utilize such an amazing idea. I hope that I can open the door for others." He hopes to use the VMA's as a platform to make more fans aware of his album release.
"The MTV Video Music Awards are one of the most watched and respected shows in the industry," said Ronald Williams, the CEO of Lil Wayne's company Cash Money Records, "Wayne is one of the most respected and prolific artists in the industry. By pairing the release of Tha Carter IV with the VMA's, it will certainly add to the overall anticipation and excitement for fans everywhere for what will surely be an unforgettable evening."
An "unforgettable evening" was the theme of my highschool's prom, I never thought to use those words to describe a Weezy performance on the VMA's.
MTV’s president says, “After our millions of viewers experience the VMA’s, they can go online at midnight and download the album they’ve all been waiting for.” Tha Carter IV’s which features appearance from T-Pain, Tech N9ne, Rick Ross, John Legend, Jadakiss, Nas and Busta Rhymes.
Lil Wayne is also set to perform at the VMA's, hopefully his face heals in time. Then again, with all the tattoos, sunglasses-at-night and grills, it's really easy to disguise an injury on Weezy's face.
