Live Music: There’s an App For That

The summer music season is upon us, and, in case you’ve been in hibernation with Bambi all winter, the tech wizards of the Intersphere have got your back.

In honor of the music and (hopefully) warmer months to come, here are five concert finders worth exploring in the App Store...

Rock Lobby: This is a new arrival that popped up via Reddit users. Rock Lobby touts itself as a “music discovery and review app,” which allows users to do just that. While the app's reach is currently limited to metropolitan areas, it’s already catching plenty of buzz and solid reviews from users. By Rock Lobby, LLC. (Available for iPhone.)

Thrillcall Live Music: A long-standing contender in the realm of mobile concert finders; a sleek and utilitarian design creates a one-stop shop for music fans yearning to find shows, buy tickets and share offers to their social network. By Thrillcall. (Available for iPhone and Android.)

BandsinTown: People freakin’ love this digital companion and, from its Facebook integration to its concert alerts to its hesh horn hand logo, it’s easy to see why. Designed by Bandsintown Inc. (Available for iPhone and Android.)

Timbre: Discover new artists; listen to their music and purchase tickets for their upcoming show all from the comforts of this highly-praised app. By Intrepid Pursuits. (Available for iPhone and Android.)

SuperGlued: This app arrived via the accomplished developing hands of Gawker CTO Tom Plunkett. It offers an all-inclusive look at concerts near you, while incorporating an artistic touch. The brand has since been sold to Complex Media, hoping to build on the focused social audience it has built since its arrival in 2009. (Available for iPhone and Android.)
