No that’s not a typo. The dates for next year’s Lollapolooza have already been announced…. As in before this year’s show even happened.
With this year’s massive music festival currently on the horizon, fans have all they can do to contain their excitement. However, the show’s promoters have given them one more thing to cheer about: Next year’s dates.
The 2013 installment of the manic weekend will rock the Chicago streets from August 2-4. Which means that you no longer have an excuse for running out of time to buy tickets.
Advertisements for next year’s event are currently plastered all over public transportation courtesy of the Chicago Transit Authority, just in time for visitors of this year’s event to see. Clever, clever…
“See you next year! Aug. 2-4, 2013 … Thank you Chicago!” the adds read.
Lollapallooza is a long-running festival that started in the 1991 as a farewell tour for Jane’s Addiction. The fest was conceived and created as the band’s lead singer Perry Farrell.
As of 2005, Lollapallooza has hung up its touring shoes and stayed put in Chicago. Previous milestones from the event’s history include Lady Gaga’s nude suite in 2010, Kanye West’s emergence as a superstar in 2008, and when deadmau5 showed up and wowed the main stage with EDM last year.
This year didn’t hold back on acts either. The lineup, which will run August 3-5, includes a long list of names like Florence + the Machine, Kaskade, Frank Ocean, B.oB., Fun., M83, and Franz Ferdinand.
Headliners for 2012 are Jack White, Black Sabbath, The Black Keys, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
