After months (literally) of anticipation, Madonna has just released her video for “Give Me All Your Luvin’” featuring M.I.A and Nicki Minaj, and let me say that it lives up to the hype. I mean, it’s not groundbreaking, but I like it fine.
Madonna plays some kind of head-cheerleader, or ex-cheerleader because she’s not trying to hide her age, or anything. She waltzes outside her suburban home pushing a baby in a stroller and just so happens to be wearing a bondage inspired leotard underneath her trench coat, as if she was expecting to be thrown back into cheerleading duties at any moment. Thankfully for Madonna, she is.
Flanked by cheerleader version of MIA and Nicki Minaj, Madonna has enlisted an entire football team to act as her security detail, with players jumping out of bushes to carry her on her way, shielding her from burning holes in the sidewalk and even taking a bullet for her Madgesty. Why is the floor burning and why are people trying to kill Madonna? No Idea. Why are football players the only people in the world capable of protecting her? No idea-oh wait, THE SUPER BOWL.
Not one to miss a marketing opportunity, this song promotes her new album AND the Super Bowl. Imagine that!? The Super Bowl XLVI airs Sunday February 5, 2012 on NBC!
Nicki and M.I.A then change into “Like A Virgin”-esque outfits and lend a verse or two to the song. Honestly, I’m waiting for the Nicki Minaj and M.I.A collabo track, there wasn’t nearly enough of these two in the song. I guess you can’t upstage Madonna, I mean, she is the Queen.
The song is upbeat and cheery for those of you who were expecting something more club-ready. I mean, when you hear Madonna, Nicki and MIA, you don’t exactly think pom-poms and football players. Then again, aren’t we sick of champagne showers and strobe lights in videos? Also, even though Madonna won’t confirm it, you can expect her to perform this song live this weekend at the Super Bowl.
