Marching Band is like the modern-day version of The Samples, with a little Ben Folds and Coldplay mixed in. The band is made up of duo Erik Sunbring and Jacob Lind, who hail from Linkoping, Sweden. Spark Large is their first full length album under U&L Records. Formerly known as Second Language, Erik and Jacob first began collaborating in college. They began experimenting with instruments like the xylophone, marimba, banjo, and vibraphone, which translates to their current sound. They say, "All we need are two bikes, one laptop, three microphones and our keen sense of whimsical instrumentation."
The combo of their voices is incredible, and it's the kind of album you'd be able to throw on in the car when you're phone battery is dead, without skipping a single track. (Which is exactly what happened the first time I listened to it!) The flow is perfect, starting off mellow with For Your Love and Gorgeous Behavior, and building up to the singalongy Makeup Artist.
