And She's Back--Mariah Announces New Music Video, Single
Mariah Carey is making her momentous return to show biz after giving birth to twins Monroe and Moroccan, giving the little ones hardly a chance to peep a perfectly high-pitched cry before scooting back to the recording booth. She’s just announced that a track from what will be her fourteenth studio album will be released this August.
She tweeted from the set of the music video shoot for it, and posted a teaser shot of her lounging in characteristic diamond and silk swathed fashion.
The song, “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” also features Rick Ross and Meek Mill, and was produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael-Cox. You can hear an rough version of Rick Ross’ verse here. It will be her 93rd music video ever, and her first video for a non-Christmas, non-charity song since 2010's "Angel's Cry."
She’s also going to be joining the judging panel of American Idol next season, and will be making $18 million for her smiley, shiny efforts—more than any judge on a reality television show ever. Which is kind of like being the best Olympic table tennis player in terms of posterity, but whatever. If any singer is qualified to judge the ever more obscure Idol hopefuls, it’s Mimi with the five octave range, perfect pitch and millions of records sold.
