Mariah Carey’s new music video for the song Right To Dream has just come out, and it’s very different from any Mariah video we’ve ever seen!
Instead of the video showing her sipping champagne on a boat in a bikini, Mariah portrays her character Krystal, whom she plays in the upcoming movie Tennessee. The song was written by Mariah and country legend Willie Nelson. It is the first single off the soundtrack. The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters this month.
Mariah says of her character in the movie, “I was very close to the story and in particular my character’s struggle, so it made it easier for me as a writer. I just began channeling Krystal’s pain and hope. The song is basically a three-act play and chronicles the evolution of Krystal. She begins by telling us where she started, like she lays in bed and wonders where she left herself. A lot of people go through that sort of thing. It’s kind of about empowerment.”
Watch the video and let us know what you think. It seems like Mariah's acting skills have definitely improved since the disaster that was Glitter.
