The Grammy nominations are turning things up a notch this year. For starters, the announcements will be televised live from Nashville, Tennessee for the first time ever; more exciting, the one-hour special will be a concert! It is a nominations event for music, after all…
LL Cool J and Taylor Swift will co-host the night’s festivities, announcing the nominations for the 55th annual Grammy Awards taking place this February, and introducing performances by Luke Bryan and Maroon 5.
The pop/rock group fronted by “The Voice”’s own Adam Levine is no stranger to the “G” word—Maroon 5 has snagged three Grammy awards in their career so far. The “One More Night” hit makers are set to perform an exclusive concert for guests of the nominations in Nashville following the telecast.
Since it started five years ago, LL has been hosting the Grammy nominations concert, to which he then leaped onto the Grammy Awards as host for the first time last year—and to massive success. The 54th Grammys was the highest watched telecast since 1984, its second largest ever, while also being its most social media-centric in its history.
The show inspired 13 million social media comments—Twitter hit a peak of 160,341 tweets per minute during the live telecast—with hilarious commentary like “Bonny Bear” adding to the entertainment.
The nominations concert will air on CBS on Wednesday, December 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT (9 p.m. Central).
