Gene Simmons and his band KISS were supposed to perform at the Michael Jackson Tribute concert, but since Gene Simmons has accused Michael Jackson of being a pedophile, the shows producers have dropped him from the line-up.
My question is: If Gene Simmons criticized Michael Jackson and accused him of being a pedophile, why would he want to participate in the tribute show in the first place?
Celebrities never make sense to me, regardless it was Simmons comments last year that got him booted from the show.
“There is no question in my mind he molested those kids. Not a doubt,” says Simmons about Jackson.
Simmons went on to say, “The only sexual references ever made about Michael Jackson that were made by anyone, anywhere around the world, have always been made by kids, and specifically males usually 10 to 14 years of age; never females, that age or older, and never grown men.” YIKES. Simmons words, not mine.
Not exactly the image you want to represent at a show that’s supposed to honor Jackson.
The show’s promoters told TMZ, “We have listened to Michael’s fans and are grateful to have been alerted to these unfortunate statements by Gene Simmons. Under the circumstances we fully agree that even though KISS is a band Michael admired we have no choice but to rescind our invitation to them to appear in our tribute concert.”
Michael fans were flooding his official fansite with negative comments towards the KISS addition and were even planning on boycotting the show. Despite the fan response, it was actually Michael Jackson estate that sent a nasty letter to the tribute show and told them to fire Gene Simmons.
I could paraphrase the legal mumbo-jumbo of the letter from MJ’s estate, but basically it was like “ARE YOU CRAZY GENE SIMMONS HATES MICHAEL FIRE HIM NOW YOU DUMBASSES!”
Michael’s estate has nothing to do with this tribute show and is questioning it’s motives.
The lawyers who control Michael Jackson’s intellectual property are also questioning whether the event is actually for charity as it claims. The legal letter states, “It appears from your interviews and from your website that none of the (approximately $90-$390) per person ticket price is committed to charitable causes. The estate asked for clarity on to whom the charitable contributions are going.”
Are the show’s producers going to pocket the proceeds? Is Michael’s Estate gonna shut down the tribute show!? What is Gene Simmons gonna say now?!!? SO MUCH DRAMA!
