Janet Won't Perform at Michael Tribute Concerts

Janet Jackson has decided against performing at the upcoming tribute concerts being planned for Michael.

The shows will reportedly take place on August 29th and 30th at London’s O2 Arena, and it comes as a surprise that Janet will be a no-show.

Her rep shot down any rumor her client would perform, calling it “false.” Sources had told MSNBC, “Over the weekend there was talk of Janet being the surprise opening act.”

A family friend of Janet’s said in a statement: “Janet has plenty going on as it is – she’s filming a movie (Why Did I Get Married Too) and she’s involved in Michael’s kids’ lives. These concerts are not about her and she respects that. She’s always been independent.”

Despite Janet not being a part of it, Michael’s brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon do intend to participate in some way. The family friend also said Janet’s decision doesn’t come as a shock, since she doesn’t tend to group herself together with her brothers.
