Michael Jackson Documentary Footage Will Auction For Millions
November 14, 2011 by: KRISTIN WONG

Later this month, unseen footage from Michael Jackson's 1993 Dangerous tour will be put up for auction. The film was shot in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was supposed to be a documentary of his tour. But Michael was reportedly so unhappy with the end product, he fired the filmmakers and crew before deciding to call the whole thing off. Somehow, the only copy in existence ended up in the hands of Michael's personal driver, who prefers to remain anonymous. It's reported that the video will like auction off for more than $6 million.
The chauffeur claims that Michael gave him the footage as a "reward or bonus." This seems like an egotistical gift--I wish I could tip my waiters with a picture of myself,--but Jackson must've known how much the footage would be worth.
Michael's record label and lawyers tried to claim exclusive rights to the documentary, but a judge ruled in favor of the driver, saying it was a gift. However, it was also ruled that the driver could not make copies.
The documentary is two hours long and is said to feature footage of Jordy Chandler, the man who accused Michael of child abuse before he and his parents settled out of court.
Ted Owen, the CEO of Fame Bureau auctioneers, the organization selling the footage, said:
"I'm very excited that this tape is finally going to be seen because of its quality, the amount of cameras used and the sheer closeness you are to the performance when watching it."
In related news, the estate of Michael Jackson recently gave the rock band Queen permission to release tracks recorded by Michael and the late Freddie Mercury. The tracks were recorded in the early 80s when the stars were touring the U.S.
Queen guitarist Brian May said:
"The Michael Jackson estates are happy for us to go ahead with the music. But it's not something that we can rush. I work on things with the view 'to let's see how it goes'. When it is something we feel is worthwhile then it's nice if we could get it out there."
