Natasha Bedingfield, the British songstress who gave us hits like "Unwritten" and "Pocket Full of Sunshine" has crossed over in country.
Who knew, right? Hollyscoop got all the details on her new music ventures. It's been awhile since we heard "Unwritten," so we had to ask, what are you working on?
"I'm always working on a new project. I'm in the country charts, which is really fun," says Bedingfield.
The artists who once penned the theme song for MTV's "The Hills" is now climbing the country music charts. Natasha collaborated with Rascal Flatts country crooners on the single, "Easy" which is currently sitting comfortably at #15 on the Billboard country chart for the past 16 weeks.
"It's been so wonderful, it's been such a blast, I'm so honored to be involved," Natasha tells Hollyscoop at the iHeartRadio music festival, "Again, I love the song and what it's about. I love the fact that it's about the complexities of being human and our relationships with each other. We got to act in the video, it was kind of like a Cinderella themed video."
While she's been happily married for the past two years, she says the song "Easy" is about pretending to be over an ex, even when you're not.
"[It's} two people singing about something that is true to life. It's a breakup that went the way it went and both of them acting like it was really easy and it's not. We've all done that...We're pretending we are over each other but we aren't really. All the feelings are still there."
Rascal Flatts has always had interesting collaborations. There were recently featured on the Justin Bieber track, "That Should Be Me" which had me wondering what three middle aged dudes have in common with a 17 year old. I think they wondered the same thing.
The guys of Rascal Flatt joked that Natasha was so great on the track that they want to swap her out for their lead singer Gary LeVox.
"Actually, she did so well we actually replaced Gary, we haven’t told him yet but she opened up her schedule and she is going to be the new lead singer," joked the band.
Maybe we can expect more collaborations from Bedingfield in the near future. She hints at who she would love to work with, "I have a long list but I’m going to go with Sting, I love him."
