Nelly is ready to propose to his girlfriend Ashanti, but there's one big problem--her over controlling mother.

Nelly, who has been dating Ashanti for five years, is ready to make her his wife, but her mother Tina Douglas is making him have second thoughts.

According to Bossip.com, “Tina sticks her nose in everything because she’s also Ashanti’s manager,” the source added, “She’s always pushing Ashanti to make more money, to always look great. It stresses her out, and Nelly doesn’t like that.”

“Before he makes her his wife,” adds the source, “Nelly wants to know that Ashanti can make decisions on her own.”
