Nick Jonas is launching a new talent search to hopefully discover the next Willow Smith. In partnership with Quaker Oats chewy bars, he is helming the Quaker Chewy Superstar Search. From the title alone, I can’t tell if this is a granola bar, reality talent show, or religious movement.
Basically, the talent search is seeking to find the countries next upcoming music star between the ages of 8-14.
Nick Jonas, a former child star himself, says of the talent competition, “I think for this particular competition, I have to keep it in the mind-set of young artists at this moment, so I’d say, like, somebody with the overall star power and star qualities of Willow Smith, with the artistry of a Greyson Change, who is really talented.”
If he’s trying to find the next Willow Smith, he’s gonna have a hard time. Willow is like a super child; I’m convinced she is a robot. The spawn of Will Smith can never be recreated in middle-American talent search.
Good luck finding some fierce little 10 year old at your granola bar talent competition. Basically, Nick is trying to find a “little Nick Jonas.”
Nick kicked off the search in NYC last night by performing an acoustic set with his guitar…sorry it’s just super hard to do a story on Nick Jonas without getting sidetracked by all the related photos of Joe Jonas that keep popping up.
Where was I? Oh yah, nick and the singing thing.
The winner of the singing competition will record a song produced by Nick Jonas, an online music video, $5,000 in cash, and a contract with Jonas Group Management.
As long as another Rebecca Black isn’t created out of this thing, I’m down.
