But the difference to Rihanna’s tweet premiering her next album Unapologetic is that RiRi’s is actually a new album where as “new” Nicki is just a repackaged Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” which is basically a pseudo-repackaged repackaging of her debut Pink Friday. Of course, we already new this, yet her tweet morning just makes the cold news promising hot new music that much more chilly.
On Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up, Nicki appears in front of a dark pink background with fake eyelashes and big, black hair bigger than her personality.
Barbz is also rocking a gold diamond-shaped necklace with that signature snarl, but besides that, truthfully, not much to report. Unless it’s packaged with a complimentary pink wig, you’ll have to be just a little more a creative for me to consider buying non-digital music ever again.
Re-releasing albums solely because an artist wants to release a new single or two is becoming a standard practice as of late—like the music industry’s version of unnecessary movie sequels in the film industry. Same characters, no story.
The Re-Up has all of Nicki’s summer hits—“Beez In The Trap,” “Starships,” “Pound the Alarm,” rumored-to-drop “Va Va Voom”—in addition to a handful of new tracks, one of which is “The Boys” feat. Cassie, the Welcome to Barbzville music video they just shot.
The album is hitting shelves on November 19 and what do you know? So does Rihanna’s on the same day.
