Nicki Minaj’s sophomore album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” was supposed to be released on April 2, but like everything in this crazy internet world of early leaks and youtube videos, the whole album just leaked early.
Here’s the highlight and low-lights of just a few of the 19 tracks.
“Come On a Cone” is vintage Nicki, she raps lyrics like, “Dick in your face/Put my dick in your face” then she sings it Mariah Carey style, “Puuuttt my DiiiIIiiCk in Youuuurrr Faaace!” Everyone is gonna be singing this all the time always, I can already predict it.
”HOV Lane” is supposed to be an ode to Jay-Z and Nicki rapping about being as swaggy as Hip-Hop’s resident mogul HOV himself, hence why she’s driving in the “HOV lane.” Get it? [Insert Bugatti rhyme here].
“Beautiful Sinner” in one of Nicki’s “singing” tracks. Uggh. Nicki has two styles, her hard-core hood-rat raps in the style of “Did It On ‘Em” and then Nicki has her top-40 “sing” tracks like “Super Bass.” This new song is the latter. This song will definitely be cool once David Guetta remixes it for the clubs, and Nicki’s singing voice HAS come a long way.
“Champion” should be an amazing song because it features Nas, Drake, and Young Jeezy, but it’s a super lazy track that kind of burns slowly. It’s kind of Nicki’s attempt to prove she can hang with the boys, but I was too bored to listen to the full song.
“Young Forever” actually sounds like a Rihanna song. Nicki is really emphasizing her Trinidadian roots, like she’s pushing the accent a little too hard. Also, it’s similar to “Starships” and I don’t like that song either, so I’m biased.
“Sex In The Lounge” should be a bonus track on a Chris Brown album. The sexually explicit lyrics sounds right up his alley. Anyways, this slow wannabe baby-making track features Lil Wayne and Bobby V and it’s awkward because Nicki raps in her deep voice and it’s more tranny than sexy and the whole result is just bad.
