The feud heard around the Twittersphere has lead to this moment…
British boy bands of a generation/the past five minutes One Direction and The Wanted have been all up in one another’s social media grills the past few days—a little back and forth between 1D’s Zayn Malik and The Wanted’s Max George that turned into a war of words between most band mates on both sides.
It appears the groups are trying to schedule a face-to-face showdown, at least vocally on The Wanted’s end.
During an interview with Channel 955 at the Jingleball in Detroit this past weekend, Max said, “I'm not sure what his problem is, to be honest. It started off that I thought we were just having a bit of banter, but [Zayn] seemed to get a bit serious. I tried to palm it off as being friendly again, but you can only take so many insults, and eventually I just said, ‘All right listen—if you've got a problem, come and see me in New York when we're there doing a gig together and we'll sort it out.’ It won't last long."
Drop the mic, gauntlet, whatever, Max George is ready to take the boys of 1D, probably all at once. No word yet from One Direction, on behalf of Zayn, on whether or not they’ll accept taking their melodies mano-a-mano in NYC. From mash-up to smash-up, I can’t be the only one looking forward to this.
