Take us through your day starting from when you wake up.
Well, I wake up these days to usually a pretty cheerful and talkative baby boy. After diaper duty, we get to hang out most mornings and give mom a little more rest. Then once Ev's up, I get moving usually answering emails or depending on if it's a day I'll be recording I don't say a word and head into the studio to sing the bass part of my next arrangement. My voice is much lower in the morning (as are most people's) so that's when I do my bass lines and then work my way up through an arrangement throughout the day. Then, depending, it's either that I record all day, film my next music video, or spend the day in meetings/calls, answering my supporters on social media, twitter, tumblr, emails, facebook messages (I try to respond to every single person that contacts me) - all along taking breaks to visit my son off and on and make him smile :)
What is the best part of your job?
It's definitely the fact that I get to sing for a living! My best days are when I get to work on a new arrangement or film a video. I have the best team you could possibly ask for and I surround myself with amazing people. Basically the days I get to be creative are the best part of my job! The other best part is the fact that I work at home and have a flexible schedule, so any break time means playing with my 7 month old son! I also have to say that collaborating with my peers and youtubers is another one of my favorite things.
When and how did you get your big break?
Working with Lindsey Stirling and the success that our collab on Skyrim had really changed the game for me! It was just the right timing, of course an insanely talented collaboration partner and having the fabulous DevinSupertramp (Devin Graham) (https://www.youtube.com/user/devinsupertramp ) filming didn't hurt either ;) - That one song and video quadrupled my fan base in a month.
What is your high school make-out song?
Oh for sure Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting." That's still such a great song! I just adore 80's power ballads.
Where would you like to see yourself in five years?
Honestly, I just want to be doing what I'm doing now, but hopefully I'll have reached another big chunk of people! I do hope my community/ fan base continues to grow, and part of that, of course, is so I can feel like my son will be able to go to college and that I can continue to support my family ;) but the main reason is so I can inspire more and more people with my music! I'll be interested to see what I'm doing in terms of maybe a future "live show" or the whole touring thing, but really not sure what the future holds! I do hope I continue to collaborate with other great artists. It's really one of my favorite things to do. I have been extremely lucky to be able to work with so many talented people in the past few years, so I just hope that continues!! I adore being able to showcase the talent of amazing artists who have never tried doing a song by only the human voice and mouth.
