It’s a throwback to the classics.
During a performance at the Viper Room, soul singer Jared Lee called a very special guest to the stage to help tackle a duet of Cyndi Lauper’s now iconic song “Time After Time.” The guest in question… “American Idol” vet, Pia Toscano…
The duo did the song justice to say the least.
Facing each other over an acoustic guitar, Pia took the first part of the duet. The 23-year-old wailed liked a seasoned pro, holding her own in the performance.
When Jared cut in, the match was spot on as the harmonies of the two singers blended with ease. Fans cheered with their appreciation when they finished.
Following the performance, Jared and Pia celebrated. The singer posted a picture on his Instagram, “I always been Jared's biggest fan & felt privileged & honored to share the stage with someone I have looked up to as an artist,” Pia said.
Pia and Jared’s friendship goes back to her teenage years. They were introduced by a mutual friend working at a record label and started writing together.
During the sixth season of “American Idol,” Pia was surprisingly eliminated before moving into the top eight contestants. But the snub has done little to slow her down…
Her talents were showcased during the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, singing the national anthem before every home game for the Los Angeles Kings. With the Kings stomping the New Jersey Devils to win the championship, it wasn’t long before Pia was known as the team’s good luck charm.
This month, the singer will debut her acting talents in the feature film “Grace Unplugged” in a role loosely based on her life.
