Piers Morgan has just announced that he has left his six year stint as a judge on “America’s Got Talent” because he cannot juggle both his commitment to the talent show and also his CNN talk show, “Piers Morgan Tonight.”
If you had no idea that Piers Morgan was even on America’s Got Talent, or you just assumed that America’s Got Talent has been cancelled for years because it’s a dumb show, join the club. Any show that thinks that “fire breathing” should be on primetime television is not a friend of mine. That aside, Piers Morgan is no longer a judge on America’s Got Talent.
"I’ve been a judge since the show began six years ago, I’ve loved every single second, but I’ve discovered that juggling, to my surprise, really is a bit more difficult than I thought. So I’m going to focus on what will be a huge year here at CNN, with the upcoming election.”
Whenever some “celebrity-type” says they had to back out of an obligation because of time constraints and “too many jobs” or whatever, I always want to ask them, What Would Ryan Seacrest Do? And if they still think they can’t handle all their multiple jobs, then they don’t deserve to be a celeb. It’s called the Seacrest Standard, it’s a thing, trust me.
At his announcement that he was leaving the show, Morgan hinted that this means he’d be available to host the Oscars. As you know, Eddie Murphy stepped down as host of the Academy Awards after producer Brett Ratner resigned, leaving us to wonder who will fill the void.
“Well, members of the Academy, I’m available,” says Morgan, “My schedule just cleared a bit, because I can exclusively reveal that I’m leaving 'America’s Got Talent'".
I hope he didn’t quit his show with the intention of getting hired by the Oscars. Because there are rumors that the Muppets will be hosting the Oscars this year, and does Piers Morgan really stand a chance against a stuffed toy with a persons hand shoved inside? Probably not.
Piers, who I’m guessing played the “mean judge” on American’s Got Talent, says he thinks his co-stars Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel and Nick Cannon will be happy to see him leave.
“I wanna congratulate Sharon, Howie and Nick who will doubtless be relieved that they no longer have to work with me,” he jokes.
Now the question is, who will replace Morgan on America’s Got Talent? It’s got to be either a formerly famous music artist, a reality star, or a talk show host. So basically that means, Lil Bow Wow, Kate Gosselin or Meredith Vieira. Take your pick America.
