Pitbull, Music’s Official Innovator of Nothing, has collaborated with Christina Aguilera on the lead single for his upcoming album Global Warming and it doesn’t sound like anything you haven’t heard before.
The song, “Feel This Moment,” samples the A-ha classic “Take On Me,” adds Christina’s vocals merely for relevancy and packs all the artistry and creativity you’d expect form a Pitbull song. Which is to say it’ll surely be the dance floor hit/most over glorified ring tone of winter 2012.
“Feel This Moment” sticks to the Miami Beach rapper’s formulaic brand of Top 40 that was fun (and by that we strictly mean “digestible”) for a hot minute, but is now just trying one’s patience.
It kicks off with self-proclaimed Mr. Worldwide dropping his specialty (proper nouns) and a few rhymes before X-tina clears the track with some vocal acrobatics around the chorus, belting a string of “Woah-oah-oah!”-s and the track’s too self-aware feel-good message. It’s around this point where you just imagine Pitbull speed dialing Christina and then holding his cell up to a studio mic because it literally sounds like she just iPhoned it in as a favor on this one.
The best part about this song is that it’s only a minute and thirty-eight seconds long because it’s just a preview, which is to say simply it’s not a good song. Hey, look! It’s a silver lining.
